Once again a HUGE amount of progress was made on the new Action Shooting Range. Thank you for another great day of donated time with heavy machinery. Thank you to our volunteers who worked in a bit of light showers with shovels as well. The combination of the backhoe and a handfull of guys with shovels allowed us to install two large tiles with a significant amount of fall into the ravine.
We were also lucky enough to get all of the unusable sticks and wood chips that were north of the concession stand moved over into the unused area in the ravine.
We are now ready to have loads of dirt and concrete rip-rap piled up to create our berm. Hopefully that will start here shortly. It sounds like we will be gaining another crew of volunteers to assist with the trenching and pouring of the footings for our safety walls. More info and dates on that work as soon as I get the info.
As always, here are the pictures of today’s work:

About 50% of the people who pledged money for the action shooting range have paid up. Thank YOU! to everyone who has sent in their money.
Unfortunatly this leaves us about $6400 short of what we need for construction. We plan to continue on construction and assume that people will pay us the money they pledged before the bills come in.
If we run out of $$ before construction is complete we will halt construction until we do have the funds. We won’t be leaving any bills unpaid.
If you pledged funds for the Action Shooting Range project and haven’t yet paid up, please send in you funds.
If you have a friend that pledged and hasn’t paid yet a little bit of peer pressure wouldn’t hurt to help us get this thing finished before prime shooting season is here.
Thank you again for everyone that has donated money and time to this project. Be sure to continue checking out this section of our website for future updates and volunteer opportunities.

We will be working this Saturday at 11:00 AM to install drainage tile on the site for the new action shooting range. We need as many volunteers as possible! If you have shovels, spades and the like please bring them.
If you have a bobcat or trenching machine please call Bob Godlove and let him know! Heavy machinery would make the job go considerably faster.
If we have a frog strangling rain on Saturday we will postpone till 1:00 PM on Sunday April 1st for doing the work. This is not an April fools!
(added on March 31st)
There was not enough rain today to stop us. No need to show up tomorow at 1:00
We had a handfull of volunteers (thank you all!) and a fairly large bobcat onsite this morning to remove the stumps and generally prepare the area for our new Action Range. Looks like things are fairly well graded and the berm has started to grow!
Pictures are worth a thousand words so here’s about 9000 words worth:

Weather permitting we will have the 1st run with heavy equipment to remove stumps, relocate rip-rap concrete, and lots of dirt moving. There will also be an opportunity for quite a bit of manual labor to relocate the recently cut wood and generally assist in the moving of dirt and concrete. If you have shovels, pry bars, chain saws, etc they might prove useful. Strong backs and willing hands will definitely be useful!
Some additional information on recent recommendations for the Action Range:
- Each of 4 positions will need equipment tables 5′ long, 18″deep and 30″ high. If you have a good design for these tables please let Bob Godlove know.
- We will want to have restroom facilities closer to this area (we expect to have a lot of traffic here) and it will likely involve a 4′ x 8′ slab and some newer facilities.
Early ground work completed!
Now we need heavy equipment to clear the site of tree stumps and some concrete to prepare for the main side walls, drainage under the backstop and the backstop itself.
Contact Bob Godlove @ 378-9857 if you can help with this need.
When the heavy equipment is done we need to install the right and left drain tubes (12″) that will go under the backstop and protect/support them with left over trees/debris and gravel so that the dump trucks and bobcats can start their work.
Thank you to the volunteers that have contributed so far!

We once again have target frames for sale.
These frames match the specs in our Member’s Handbook. These frames will be available during our Saturday morning tour time. That is, 8:00 AM sharp every Saturday morning.
Prices are: $14 for a pistol frame and $18 for a rifle frame. (These costs just barely cover the construction materials)

We have no idea what is taking so long. Yes, we have paid your bill to national.
The recent Ikes “Outdoor America†magazine list all of us as past due on our dues. Our database is the official record of paid members. Check the box below your name on the back of your March newsletter to see if you are a member in good standing and/or paid for 2007.
We will get the tags out ASAP when they get here. Hope by mid March!
Watch this site for an update. We will need volunteers to stuff envelopes and laminate tags.
